Summer makeover

Last week, I got the chance to stop by the fabulous Salon29 where I treated my hair to a summer keratin super blast that will enable me to enjoy the summer without frizzy hair. The treatment helps straighten the hair, make it smooth, shinny and super soft. It lasts 3 months and you can travel to a humid beach town without loosing your dignity.

Besides the keratin treatment I get every summer, here are my favorite picks of the season:

Update: Salon29 has a promotion on Keratin Treatment: 30% off

Zink Restaurant - Glendale, CO

Last week, while celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday, we went to Zink Restaurant, inside the Hilton Garden Inn in Glendale, CO. They have another location in Greenwood Village, but since we live besides Glendale, that was our location of choice.

I had heard very good things about the place but was incredibly disappointed when we arrived. The service was very weak (I really don’t enjoy restaurants that hire children to work as waiters – it’s completely the Restaurant’s fault), and the menu was extremely limited.  But, with the help of a whole bottle of Malbec wine we managed to have fun and enjoy ourselves.

Pinterest

I have recently created an account with Pinterest.com and what a great service that is… I save loads of images I find on the net in my computer and try very hard to organize them by their theme but it’s not the same thing as looking at your lookbook on Pinterest. My first one is Favorite Office images and I’m saving inspiration for office spaces and organizational ideas since I’m going to re-do my office space at home and my boyfriend’s office at his company. So, I’m looking for ideas to make the space organized, yet stylish and colorful.

A walk to remember

Between running to the doctor, participating in the company’s picnic, watching the painful US vs. Mexico Gold Cup final and relaxing by the pool this weekend, I had this brilliant idea: to walk under the 95º sun to the local supermarket in order to buy ingredients for my favorite breakfast sandwich. The only thing I did not realize was that a 5 minutes car ride can translate on a 40 minutes walk (each way).

I’m not the most athletic person by any means and the walk on an empty stomach and without water was extremely painful. By the time we reached the supermarket, I was just glad to be inside, with the AC on and sun burnt on my chest and neck – I got admit, the Colorado sun is potent!

We also found another great supermarket close to home: there is a King Soopers by Leetsdale and Cheery Creek Dr. that’s gorgeous, everything about that supermarket is great: the gigantic liquor store with cachaça in its shelves, the organization (every isle looks amazing and colorful) and the enormous variety of fresh fruit will totally become my supermarket of choice!

Here are a few images from a weekend filled with new discoveries and relaxation:

It's Monday! \O/

I used to hate people who celebrated Mondays. I really found it annoying and even offensive to me – I always felt miserable on Mondays.

But, things are changing, and while nothing is concrete or certain at this point, I can only say that last night was one of the best nights of my life, I slept so peacefully, without any nightmares and only woke up this morning. This sounds crazy? I really don’t sleep! Ever! Even with medication!

And, this is what I want to celebrate: great nights of sleep, peaceful and quite. Because, the most important things in life are the simple things!

(I have been obsessed with this dress by J.Crew – I have to say that I have a collection in my wardrobe: in green, pink, white and purple colors – they make a great summer dress and I love the mismatch the color with my toe nails – currently light green)

J. Crew makes the most confortable cute dresses ever!

Seattle - Vancouver - Victoria

We are currently preparing to go on a summer vacation that I have waited for a very long time: Canada! It will be my first time in Canada and I have always heard amazing things about Vancouver and Victoria and I'm very, very excited!

We will start the trip by flying to Seattle, WA (tickets to Seattle was a bargain compared to the price of tickets to Vancouver). We will spend two days there, visit the famous flying fish at the local Market and I want to buy these pickled fruit jars at the Seattle Boat Street Café.

Then, we plan to head to Vancouver and also visit Victoria. Since now I have more than enough time in my hands, I believe this will be a great celebration and summer vacation of my dreams. Also, we will be celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday! Yay! \O/

Do you have any tips for Seattle, Vancouver or Victoria?

Vancouver, BC
Ikea is preparing to open its doors in Centennial, CO on July 27th and the Denver Post has published this very nice feature on the new Swedish furniture store that you can find here!

This will be the second largest store in the US and the excitement is building here in Colorado, starting by the gigantic Ikea sign on Rte. 25. that you can see from miles and miles away.

You can also watch the video for a complete tour at the Centennial Ikea here!

I'm loving the colorful pictires!

H&M in Denver - Tip#3

It’s definitely a time for change here in Denver. In a few weeks the first Ikea store in Colorado will open in Centennial and in the fall, the first H&M store opens at the Denver Pavilions. The complex published this picture yesterday to show the serious construction that’s going on in the old Nike Town space:

Like many others, I cannot wait to visit Ikea (I know, it’s going to be crowded every day for months) and, especially, H&M and check out piece like these, from the Summer 2011 collection! Love the flowery print!

Versace for H&M

It was announced this morning the next designer collaboration with H&M and (Am I the only one completely shocked?) it’s Versace!

Here is the announcement video with Magareta van den Bosch and Donatella Versace giving a little glimpse of what this collection will look like.

The 40 women and 20 men pieces will hit select stores on November 19th – I’m praying that Denver will be one of the selected stores, but I seriously doubt it, since not even in NJ I could find designer collaboration pieces, only in very few stores in NYC.

Also, in the countries that have online sales, a new early spring Versace collection will be available online in January 2012. By then, H&M is supposed to have launched the online store in the US.

How excited are you for the Versace for H&M collection?

Happy Birthday, meu amor!

{It's my boyfriend's birthday today!
What a happy, happy day!}

Time for a Change

It's definitely time for a change for me. And I can sense that big things are coming. While I'm not sure what will be happening in the near future and I'm trying to understand the way I think and feel, I have decided to (tan, tan, tan...) redo all the shelves in our home.

I have started with the living room: got rid of all the DVD's (one day I'll have a home, with enough space for my own office, and there I'll have book shelves and I'll fill them with my favorite DVD's); cleaned everything from floor to ceiling and re-organized all the shelves.

I have to say that I'm pleased with the result, I was able to incorporate some of the new pieces we have recently acquired and, now, it looks better than before.

{I love these tiny Crate & Barrel vases}

{You can't see by these images, but I have put this black chair against the wall, used a mustard blanket to cover the back of the chair, the pillows with the guitar on top, it really looks nice}

The pictures are not good. I'd love to hire a home photog...
