Christopher Hitchens - 1949 - 2011

We woke up this morning to the news that Christopher Hitchens has died at age 62 from complications from his esophageal cancer. Very sad news, since I believe the world is so in need of people like Christopher Hitchens and it's a big loss for all of us. Sometimes we just need people to speak their minds and speak about the truth not to be buried in the enormous amount of ignorant bullshit available everywhere.

I have always enjoyed Christopher Hitchens, be it from his books and articles - which people insist on calling polemic, I don't see why his words can be called polemic, he was very clear and rational to me - or from his TV appearances and interviews. I think, more than anything, Christopher Hitchens was a breath of fresh air in a world that's so consumed with stupidity and simplistic ideas of religion.

He was extremely entertaining, a true interesting man, with an incredible passion for writing and for enjoying the things he really liked - whiskey anyone?!

So, there are a few pieces in the news today about him I'd like to share with you - if you are interested:

cold, cold monday

We have not had a break here in Denver: since Wednesday we went through three snow storms and the temperature today is around 5 degrees! So, everyone is locked inside the house, enjoying some cuddling, cooking, movies and lots of work in between!

Last week, I decided to re-do our living room (I was guessing we would spend a lot of time inside), bringing this cute Ikea couch back, against the window, dressing it up with pillows and a blanket and creating a nice reading nook with plants and our guitars.

I'm in love with our new living room, it looks more spacious and the light that's coming in feels amazing! We also retired our green ombré rug and acquired a new West Elm Sisal rug that feels organic and matches the new space.

In the images here, I'm playing around with the Leme Cam app from my iPhone!

Holiday wreath

Our Thanksgiving weekend was filled with little Holiday's projects, eating with friends, and loads of work. While it was strange - specially for boyfriend - to spend Thanksgiving away from family, I believe we are creating our own traditions.

The first project was to finally finish our first wreath before Thanksgiving. I encountered a few bumps on the road. I started the project trying to make a gold wreath which showed impossible, the material I had purchased was difficult to work with and it did not look good. So, I had to go back to the original idea of using a cool yellow wool yarn and here is the result:

Happy Thanksgiving + Thankful for our families

We are greatuful for every moment we get to spend with our families!

As the holiday season approaches I can help but think about how grateful I am for our families.
Boyfriend and I are not easy people, we have chosen weird and rocky paths in our lives and our families have always supported us, our move to Denver, our venture into a new career path, all our crazy thoughts and actions, our search for happiness while we build our little family of two.

I'm very thankful for having amazing people who come all the way here to spend time with us. Dear family, we love you very much.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello? Anybody there?

Hello, friends! I have simply disappeared lately.
And, when I'm in that kind of mood, when negativism is my home, I prefer not to share dark thoughts with anyone.
I've ready this post by Joanna (from A Cup of Jo) about worrying too much and I've been trying out, trying to throw my worries and thoughts inside the Grand Canyon.

So, since then I've been trying to enjoy myself a little and forget.

You can see by the photo booth images that we are succeeding!

This is boyfriend and I being silly, we love a little photo booth time and silly laughs.

So, in that spirit, every year we create our Christmas Cards and send out to close family and friends who, hopefully, will not judge how silly we are!

I'm posting here a few shots from the Christmas Cards and, once everyone has received theirs, I'll post the cards here!

To tell you the truth, we are all in the spirit of the Holidays these days.

So maybe, I can share with you our small and crazy Holiday projects!
