The French Press

We always stop at The French Press when we are in the west side of town! On my birthday, it was not different, before heading to Vail, we had an amazing breakfast at The French Press, one of the coolest cafés in town! Boyfriend had Lax Bennies and I had a ham, cheese and caramelized onions crepe! The coffee is always great too. But, what makes the place amazing (besides the fact you can have crepes for breakfast) is the atmosphere. The French Press is tiny, the tables are all close to each other, the people are friendly, you can practice some interesting people watching.

Eating out: Ondo's Spanish Tapas

I'm a person obsessed with good cuisine. My boyfriend and I have some serious rules when it comes to eating out together: we never eat in chains, we value local businesses, we are always searching for the next perfect little restaurant and we rarely eat in the same place twice. Our idea is this: there are so many amazing restaurants to try, why would you ever want to eat in the same place all the time? Every time you go to the same restaurant you have been before, you are missing on the opportunity of getting to know a new place, a new dish, a new cuisine. 

Of course, there are exceptions. And we save them to the really, really fantastic places we love. In my case, my passion in Denver is Ondo's, a tiny Spanish Tapas Bar in Cherry Creek. It's close to home and serves one of my favorite foods ever: Spanish. 

Last week, while celebrating my new hair do, we stopped by their happy hour. They serve $2 tapas from the bar and have an amazing variety. It's not Spain, but as close as I can get to it at the moment! We had one litter of sangria and 3 delicious rounds of tapas.

Happy Friday + Lucile's Creole Cafe

It's Friday, friends! Let's celebrate! I'm feeling very optimistic about the month of September! It seems to be full of great surprises and one of them was the discovery of Lucile's Creole Cafe, here in Denver, CO!

I decided to take my boyfriend to a surprise breakfast on a cold morning this week and we ended up eating at Lucile's. We had already heard a great deal of amazing things about the place, and since it was a cold day, we thought that great food was a good way to cheer up! 

The truth is, the two of us really miss New Orleans and all the delicious, amazing, fattening creole food we had over there. And I got to tell you, Lucile's did not disappoint, not one bit.

Zink Restaurant - Glendale, CO

Last week, while celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday, we went to Zink Restaurant, inside the Hilton Garden Inn in Glendale, CO. They have another location in Greenwood Village, but since we live besides Glendale, that was our location of choice.

I had heard very good things about the place but was incredibly disappointed when we arrived. The service was very weak (I really don’t enjoy restaurants that hire children to work as waiters – it’s completely the Restaurant’s fault), and the menu was extremely limited.  But, with the help of a whole bottle of Malbec wine we managed to have fun and enjoy ourselves.
