Travel

My boyfriend and I are definitely not the traditional couple you meet everyday. We have determined a few things in our relationship that makes travel a very important part of our lives together:

- We have an agreement - or should I say: gift policy? - We give each other experiences instead of traditional material gifts.

- Travel is one of the most important things in my life: I live to travel; I'm always waiting and planning our time in the next destination.

- We have a very specific and peculiar way to travel and we are very similar: we are fast, we get very bored, very quickly and we never take a relaxing vacation. Relaxation time for me is called the weekend.

- I have very few vacation days in one year, so we try to utilize every single holiday + one vacation day to create multiple short vacations.

- We have agreed that the minimum acceptable times to leave the country in one year are 2 (so, count me in for Mexican, Caribbean or Canadian vacations).

- We prefer multiple short vacations than one long vacation in one year (we get really bored quickly; one long vacation is a waste of time for us).

You can definitely use this description to analyze various psychological issues we might have. The truth is: real life sucks, life is short and the world is big and it's not like Denver has a world of things to offer. So traveling is an amazing solution for us.

I'm not the kind of person that will tell you the cliché: I love to see new places and get to know new people. I can barely speak to any stranger and I never make friends in new places. My boyfriend is very different than me in this aspect. He talks to everybody. It's just really not me. The objective of traveling here is really the new experience, it's to spend time somewhere different than the everyday place, somewhere than can offer me more, can offer me something I need and I can't find in Denver.

It's to see new things and have access to things we normally do not have access home (food, design stores, furniture, beach) and really utilize them. It's one of the very few ways I can disconnect from work and from everything and really enjoy myself.

Besides all of that, we have moved 2,000 miles away from our families.
So, if I want to be around people I know and love, I need to travel to NYC, Brazil, or Spain or meet them somewhere in between.

Because of all of that, I'm creating this space to document our trips, the places we have been, eaten and shopped. I think there are plenty of useful stories and memories to be shared here and I hope you really enjoy this trip!
